Saving the Environment one thing at a time

With the earth in a state that is unpredictable right now, we need to be able to conserve every ounce of energy as well as show others how too. It will protect from polluting and the cost may go down as well. But mostly it shows that you care what is happening to your planet your future. With doing something as small as keeping as few lights on as possible, or even recycling you are contributing a huge amount.

Earth day fast approaching people are already starting to show more support when it comes to saving energy and not polluting as much. With people shutting everything off when they go to bed or at work they are able to contribute.

“There’s not much to it,” says the York University masters in education student. “I’m usually doing work at night on the computer before I go to sleep after 11. It starts in the living room. I unplug the T.V. and the computer and all the peripherals—modems, routers, they’re all unplugged. Then all the lamps and anything else plugged into power bars to minimize phantom load.”

Having more Canadians care about what is going on with the future, we are supporting Earth hour, and recycle programs. Also having more fuel efficient cars, and people walking or using other modes of transportation. We are also capable in helping by changing light bulbs to energy sufficient ones or a lower watt.

“It’s a lifestyle choice. I want to teach using the Toronto District School Board’s EcoSchools program as a core philosophy. If I’m going to teach students I have to model that behaviour.”

Small things have been starting to go farther with unplugging everything in your house/apartment to walking or biking to work/school. We are showing other people that it is something simple and small that may be extremely effective in the long run.
