Protecting Canadian wildlife

Wildlife in Canada, is one our most important issues to us; we protect our animals so that they are safe and are laws for them to stay alive. Even when in hunting season it gives the animals more time to duplicate. Not everyone hunts and those that do may not even get anything when they go. When something happens to our wildlife that is not under a law or in a hunting season, is hard for Canadians to accept. We value our animals with pride, and we do not appreciate when something happens to them that may harm them or their habitat.

Something such as a fire, or people cutting down trees illegally is what we take extremely seriously when it comes to Canadian Wildlife. When ruining an animal’s habitat it may kill the animal or even cause the animal weeks to find a new home. During this other animals are affected just as much if not more. Food, shelter and safety are all at risk when you destroy a habitat or even when killing an animal.

So many different aspects come into mind when thinking of animals, you need to be able to have a plan to make sure everything gets restored as normal. Dealing with bigger problems such as an oil spill will have a huge affect due to the fact the animals are covered in it. As well it will kill many animals in the process, they are unable to protect themselves when covered in an unknown substance.

“The duck is trapped in it,” Powell testified Tuesday. “It looks like a male mallard, but it is almost 100 per cent covered.”

Powell described a sequence of photographs showing an oil-covered duck on the shore of the tailings pond as a raven swoops in to attack. He said a duck would normally try to flee to save itself. This one did not move and “the raven is attempting to eat whatever it can.”

When dealing with something this big, it takes time to clean the animals and restore the natural habitat where the incident took place. You need to take all precautions and protect our wildlife, but also our natural resources.
